Overview

Waikato District Council seeks competent and experienced contractors to carry out the replacement of the existing Lake Hakanoa Footbridge which is located on the walkway next to the Huntly Motor Caravan Parkoff 5 Taihua Street Huntly.
The existing bridge has reached the end of its usable life, deemed unsafe and has been closed to the public for some time.
Our requirements are to replace the existing bridge with an 18m long, 1.5m wide bridge, the bridge main bearing beams are wooden Glulam Beams with wooden base boards and steel/wooden safety rail inserts, the contract also includes the construction of two new approaches.
The key objective of this procurement is to find a supplier that has experience in wooden bridge construction, has building experience and can demonstrate that they can either build the bridge in place or have the capacity to crane the fully built bridge into location.
On completion of this project the original walkway will be reopened to the public for use.

The bridge is located in a public reserve and can be viewed from outside the safety fencing if any suppliers would like to view it during the tendering phase.
