Wellington Zoo is New Zealand’s first zoo, and Wellington’s oldest conservation organisation, caring for animals since 1906. The Zoo has been a not for profit charitable trust since 2003. The Trust runs the Zoo on behalf of Wellington City Council. At Wellington Zoo we welcomed 252,973 visitors in 2018-19, our second highest visitation ever. To maintain community expectations, animal welfare standards and sustainability and conservation outcomes it is important that we keep our Zoo interesting and exciting to visitors, providing a new adventure every time. We are proud to be the world’s first Toitū carbonzero certified zoo.

Wellington Zoo is exploring the options for the future of a catering partnership/s for both functions and retail which will complement and bring value to the Wellington Zoo experience. We are seeking expressions of interest from a partner/s that will provide innovative and flexible solutions to catering at the Zoo. We are happy to hear ideas for how best to provide catering services at the Zoo in the short and long term. We would like to move forward with a functions catering solution as soon as possible and, at this stage, we are exploring a retail catering solution for the future.

We are guided by our kaupapa, Me Tiaki, Kia Ora! We must look after our environment, so all things will flourish. It is up to us collectively to make a difference for animals and the wild places they call home.

Our catering partner/s will help us tell this story and add value to the Wellington Zoo experience through thoughtful food and beverage offerings for visitors and venues guests.
