Wellington Zoo’s on-site industrial composter was custom built in 2006. With over 600 animals representing over 100 species, in addition to the 250,000+ visitors coming to the Zoo every year, this composter is now out of date and does not cater for Wellington Zoo’s increasing waste demands. This well used and much loved machine plays an important role in Wellington Zoo’s sustainable strategic goals however at its current capacity it is no longer able to deal with the organic waste produced at the Zoo and how this has changed in recent years.
Wellington Zoo has received funding from the Ministry for the Environment to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the best course of action for onsite composting in order to most effectively minimise waste.
We are calling for Registrations of Interest (ROI) from consultants or consulting firms who are keen to work with us and undertake this feasibility study and produce an associated report. The attached document provides the overview, background information and details required to enable interested parties to register their interest.
Please note the Zoo will not be receptive to contact directly from compost machinery manufacturers/distributors etc in any attempt to circumvent the feasibility study process being followed as detailed in the attached ROI document.
