The purpose of this market sounding is to help Wellington Water have early engagement with interested suppliers to gather information about deploying a water meter solution in the Wellington region. We would like to test our hypothesis of implementing the water meter solution with suppliers and understand market capability and capacity to deliver the whole solution. The key outcomes of the market sounding will inform us on the available water meter products, networks, indicative costs, contractual models, and the high-level implementation approach for meter programme.
The objective of the current scope for the Metering Programme is to begin to enable the reduction in demand through the deployment of residential water meters in the Wellington metropolitan region, along with all supporting infrastructure. Wellington Water’s objective is to deploy a water meter solution in the next 5-6 years. Roughly 135,000+ water meters will be installed. For this Market Sounding, we want to test our thinking in terms of possible solutions, deployment / civil work approach, where fit-for-purpose water meters can be used, radio network, and potential meter data/device management systems.
It is a great and unique opportunity for vendors to get some insight of the programme, asking questions about what we want to achieve, and developing an early understanding on how you as a vendor can be part of our meter implementation journey for the region. You will be able to contribute towards the final RFP by providing the information and feedback to Wellington Water.
