Wellington Water was established in September 2014 and was the result of a merger between Greater Wellington Regional Council’s water supply group and Capacity Infrastructure Services. We're owned by the Hutt, Porirua, Upper Hutt and Wellington city councils, South Wairarapa District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council. The councils are all equal shareholders. Our role is to manage the drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services of our council owners.
On average we supply over 160 million litres (ML) of water per day. Collectively our regional demand for drinking water represents the second largest concentration of demand in New Zealand for potable water treatment chemicals. Background information about Wellington Waters treatment facilities can be found here https://www.wellingtonwater.co.nz/your-water/drinking-water/
Wellington Water is looking to improve the administrative efficiencies associated with bulk water treatment chemical purchases and manage inventories with a high level of resilience to supply shocks and disruptions for the regions drinking water suppliers.
Consequently we are looking to go to market early in 2022 for the supply of bulk chemicals and will be seeking offers from basic chemical suppliers and distributors who can offer a reliable and high quality supply of basic chemicals as well as strong inventory management and other services for a five year term. Basic chemicals will include: Fluoride SSF, Fluoride HFA, Soda Ash, Sodium Hypochlorite, Chlorine, Lime, CO2, Caustic, Alum, POLY B570, PACL coag, Carbon and Salt.
We will be hosting two on-line industry briefings and Q&A sessions for interested basic chemicals suppliers and distributors who may want to learn more about our intentions, requirements and proposed tender timelines. The briefings will be held on Wednesday 12th January 2022 at 3 pm and Wednesday 19th January 2022 at 3 pm.
