Overview
The objective of this project is to replace a section of one of the region’s most
critical water supply pipelines, the Te Mārua to Karori (TM2K) pipeline (otherwise
known as the Kaitoke Water Main). This project involves the replacement of the
large diameter bulk water pipeline that crosses the Silverstream Bridge in Upper
Hutt. It is an essential asset for the bulk water supply to Porirua City and North
Wellington, and therefore is significant for resilience of the region.
The Silverstream Pipe Bridge project involves realigning sections of the Te Mārua to
Karori (TM2K) pipeline and construction of a new pipe bridge over the Te Awa
Kairangi / Hutt River for the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC).
