Whakatāne District Council is committed to our climate change strategy and have implemented ambitious action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lead our communities on this journey.

Our WDC Solar panel project aims to increase energy resilience and decrease our emissions and to help achieve this we are seeking a supplier/s to design, supply and install solar panels on three (3) key council owned facilities:
-Whakatāne District Council Building (14 Commerce Street, Whakatāne)
-Whakatāne Resource Recovery Centre (60 Te Tahi Street, Whakatāne)
-Whakatāne District Council Dog Pound (52 Te Tahi Street, Whakatāne)

Further progress and development of the WDC Solar plan project may include other Council sites subject to approval in the 2026 financial year.
