Waitematā District Health Board is seeking new community living options to deliver effective and safe support to people with diverse high and complex needs whose needs cannot be met by less intensive community adult mental health services and who would otherwise have protracted periods of time in inpatient wards.
The needs to be addressed arise from enduring mental health problems (tāngata whai i te ora) or intellectual or developmental disability-related problems (tāngata whaikaha) or other cognitive impairments, or a combination of these, sometimes also with comorbid addictions or physical health problems.
We are looking for residential and/or packages of care services to ensure the 24/7 wrap around that will enable alternative long-term placements for 10-12 people across the age ranges of 18-55 years and 55 years or older, including Māori and Pasifika people.
Waitematā DHB is seeking interest, feedback and options from NGOs on the proposal to establish one or more suitable long-term community residential and/or packages of care services for people with high and complex disability and mental health needs across Waitematā DHB.
