Overview

Western Bay of Plenty District Council (Western Bay) wishes to procure construction of a new bridge on No. 4 Road in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. This is a significant project both for Council and the local community. The bridge is to be completed in early March 2025 to support the local economy and the timely transport of the kiwifruit harvest. The bridge will provide permanent, reliable and secure access for No 4 Road residents.

This will be a new single span bridge comprising of steel girders made composite with a reinforced concrete bridge deck. The superstructure will be supported by new cast in-situ abutments founded on new piles. New instream scour protection and works in the riverbed is also required as part of the construction.

The Principal is looking for a Contractor who can:
• Implement proactive strategies to enable the timely completion of the Contract Works, including maintaining traffic access of the bailey bridge throughout construction of the new bridge.
• Develop and implement innovative work methods and/or materials that result in enhanced performance and an overall cost saving.
• Comply with all conditions and requirements of the contract including quality assurance, and health and safety.
• Work collaboratively with the Principal and Designer to implement the works.
• Keep local residents, road users and Council fully up to date as work progresses particularly in regard to road closures and other traffic management measures that affect road access.
• Manage environmental and cultural effects of the construction works.
