The Waikato Regional Council (the Council) contracts pest animal control operations through its Priority Possum Control and HALO programs. Currently, the Council runs competitive tenders, annually, for each individual Priority Possum Control Area (PPCA) and HALO area. The successful tenderer is contracted to deliver performance based pest control.
Council recently undertook a review of the current animal pest control procurement process. As a result of that review, Council is transitioning from annual contracts for each individual PPCA and HALO sector, to longer term contracts which cover the majority of possum and/or rat control in larger, defined geographical areas within the Council boundary.
The Council is wanting to hear from suitably qualified contractors who would be interested in the opportunity to undertake performance based pest control for all of the PPCAs and HALO areas in the North and/or Central sectors for the next three years (1 July 2020 to 30 June 2023), with a subsequent possible contract renewal from another three years (1 July 2023 to 30 June 2026).
The Council’s Priority Possum Control program in the North Sector represents approximately 150,000ha of possum control.
The Council’s Priority Possum Control and HALO program in the Central Sector represents approximately 170,000ha of possum control and approximately 1,400ha of rat control.
The Council is looking for pest animal control contractors to become a partner in the delivery of the Council’s PPCA and HALO programs and is seeking providers who have the capability, experience and capacity to deliver quality, performance based pest control operations, on time and to budget.
Contractors who register their interest in reply to this Expression of Interest must become preapproved (or be currently preapproved) by the Council for pest animal services in order to be eligible to submit a response to any subsequent tenders for the services.
