Overview

The Waikato Biodiversity Forum was established in 2003 to help halt the loss of biodiversity in the Waikato region. It operates as a network and partnership between Waikato Regional Council, district councils, Department of Conservation, research institutions, Waikato University, private landowners, community groups and non-governmental organisations.

Waikato Regional Council is seeking a Waikato Biodiversity Forum (WBF) Coordinator to organise and run two regional Forum events per year, support community groups with funding advice and practical skills training sessions, manage the Forum Freephone 0800 BIODIV, prepare articles and reports, maintain the Forum’s presence on the internet and social media, and maintain Forum databases and records.

Waikato Regional Council is looking for Respondents experienced in facilitation, collaboration and organisational alignment, with strong people skills and a friendly, tactful and trustworthy manner. The ability to coordinate and organise, with a high level of initiative, ability to self-manage and keep appropriate records and write reports is essential. The WBF Coordinator also needs to be knowledgeable about biodiversity conservation and ecology as well as having good computer skills. It is our preference that the WBF Coordinator reside in the central Waikato/Hamilton area.

Waikato Regional Council’s mission is to work with others to build a Waikato region that has a healthy environment, a strong economy and vibrant communities. This opportunity offers a chance to contribute to this mission, as well as deliver on two key priority areas – supporting communities to take action and strengthening partnerships.
