At Waikato Regional Council, the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff is paramount. We have a large number of staff that work in high risk areas and we need to ensure that our staff are kept safe at work and that they get home safe and well each and every night.
As part of this we have recently introduced a new Call In Requirements process outlining the minimum requirements and processes that employees working in high risk environments must follow.
Our existing high risk areas have been identified as follows:
Working alone completing fieldwork;
Remote or isolated work including travelling;
Completing high risk work;
Potential for conflict or aggressive situations to arise;
When a staff member believes it is required for their activity or task.
