The purpose of this Request for Tender (RFT) is to invite tenders from Council Biosecurity Pre-Approved Contractors to undertake maintenance possum control in the following Priority Possum Control Areas:
• Whitehall – Te Miro PPCA
o Approximately 14,607 hectares and 332 landowners (Figure 1).
• Piopio East PPCA
o Approximately 12,885 hectares and 130 landowners (Figure 2).
The Whitehall-Te Miro PPCA will be split into two operational sectors. The Whitehall sector to the south covering 8,310 hectares and the Te Miro sector to the north covering 6,298 hectares. The PPCA is located 10km south east of Cambridge and includes dairy, dry stock and lifestyle properties.
Note: This RFT does not include the Te Miro Halo site or the Department of Conservation (DOC) administered Te Tapui blocks.
The council invites tenderers to submit tenders for the Whitehall and Te Miro sectors individually or combined. An Operational Plan must be provided for each sector tendered for.
The Piopio East PPCA covers approximately 12,885 hectares of rolling to steep hill country containing scattered bush remnants and involves approximately 130 landowners. The PPCA is mostly made up of sheep and beef farms, with some dairying and dairy support. Located east of the Piopio Township, the area starts at Eight Mile Junction Rd in the north and heads south to the Aria Township to Totoro Rd and Ohura Rd. Formally a TBFree area, Piopio East has received numerous control operations.
Methodologies and Operational plans proposed by tenderers must be flexible for acceptance by landowners in the relevant sector or PPCA.
