Overview
Council maintains a flood protection scheme on the Tongariro River in Turangi. This scheme protects the Turangi township from flood events. The scheme consists of stopbanks, flood walls and erosion protection. The rock revetment protecting the Herekiekie Street stopbank has settled over time and now requires upgrading. Due to difficult and restricted access at this site, a new access is required to be formed as part of these works to achieve a stable and safe approach to the work site.
