Waikato Regional Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake maintenance control of possums in the Waikite Valley – Te Kopia, Mokauiti 1 and 2, Mokauiti 1 Aerial Sector and Mahoenui Priority Possum Control Areas (PPCAs).
The Waikite Valley – Te Kopia PPCA comprises farmland surrounding the Paeroa Ranges located between Rotorua and Taupo, west of Reporoa on SH 5. It was created to support the possum control within the Department of Conservation’s estate.
The Mokauiti 1 and 2 PPCAs, Mokauiti 1 Aerial Sector and Mahoenui PPCA are located in the Central King Country, approximately 20 kilometres south west of Te Kuiti. These PPCAs are part of the larger Central King Country possum control project which encompasses approximately 58,700 hectares, extending from Eight Mile Junction on SH3 in the north, to the regional boundary with Horizons Regional Council in the south.
The aim of these PPCAs is to reduce possum densities on privately owned land to ensure ongoing forest health, soil conservation in the catchment and enhancement of the biodiversity.
Requests for tender documents or enquiries can be made to:
Chris Monk or Paul Quinn at 0800 800 401 or by email to chris.monk@waikatoregion.govt.nz and Paul.Quinn@waikatoregion.govt.nz
Tenders are to be submitted by 12 noon, Tuesday 27th October 2015

Contractors not yet pre-approved should contact Chris Monk in the first instance to discuss the pre-approval process and information required.
