We are inviting suitably qualified contractors (Contractors/Respondents) to deliver property maintenance and solid waste services. Recently maintenance and solid waste services have been delivered through multiple contracts and service agreements for varying terms.
The Wairoa District Council (WDC/We/Our/Us/Buyer) is committed to developing close partnering relationships and this is a significant opportunity to work closely with WDC to provide long-term services of strategic importance to the community.
WDC is the local authority for the wider Wairoa area located in the north of the Hawke’s Bay Region. It covers an area of 4,120km2 with approximately 130 kilometres of coastline. It is bounded to the north-east by Gisborne District, southwest by Hastings District and to the north by Whakātane and Taupō Districts.
WDC has a key role in making Wairoa a sustainable, resilient district that supports a prosperous and diverse economy. It provides a range of facilities, including Council administration buildings, community halls, parks and reserves, playgrounds, campground, pools, library and pensioner housing. In addition to these facilities, WDC owns commercial properties e.g., Gemmels building, Winters building and the new iSite building.
To balance supporting local suppliers and providing best value in servicing remote locations within the district, the property maintenance contracts are bundled around respective local communities and solid waste including recycling services are bundled within the Tuai and Raupunga areas contract.
The works proposed for the WDC Property Maintenance Contracts is to provide maintenance and/or solid waste services for Wairoa District Council Property assets within the Wairoa District areas. Where the Contract is inclusive of cleaning the works shall include servicing the public toilets and council owned buildings. Where the Contract is inclusive of grounds the works shall include mowing and grounds maintenance, playground equipment and park furniture maintenance, gardens maintenance and cemetery maintenance. The collection of litter is required throughout the contracts, whereas the collection of solid waste and recycling is bundled within the Tuai and Raupunga contracts.
