The University of Waikato wishes to secure the fabrication, supply and erection of the structural steel trade package for the Tauranga CBD Campus Development prior to the engagement of the main contractor for the Main Works to ensure this critical trade is secured in sufficient time to enable the timely delivery of the various elements to site. The Main Contractor will be appointed in late May/early June 2017 at which point the successful Structural Steel sub-contractor will be novated across to the main contractor to commence the shop drawing process and manufacture of the structural steel components for supply to site commencing in approximately September 2017. The University will engage the successful Tenderer initially to secure the steel supply via a contract. Upon the appointment of the Contractor for the Main Works, the successful Tenderer will be novated across to the Main Works Contractor and will enter into a direct subcontract with the Main Works Contractor based upon the conditions of the Draft Contract to the Main Works provided in this document or otherwise agreed upon the completion of the Main Works Tender process.
