Registration of Interests (ROI) are invited from Main Contractors for the University of Otago, Science Precinct – Laboratory Redevelopment, Dunedin.
The intention of the ROI process is to pre-select contractors who are able to demonstrate the capability and resources necessary to complete this project to meet the overall programme objectives.
The contract will be based on NZS 3910 with Octa Associates Ltd as Engineer to the Contract. The design will be fully documented with a Schedule of Quantities.
In summary the scope of the project is to:
Refurbish three levels of the existing 6,000 m2 Science 1 building to provide modern laboratory and teaching facilities.
Refurbish approximately 460m2 of the Science 2 building as permanent decant space.
The proposed refurbishment of the Science 1 building is extensive, with the existing exterior fabric and interior removed. A new interior layout with associated services to support new research and teaching laboratories is to be provided.
In order to minimise the effect on construction on the University, the build is to be completed in two main stages, namely:
Stage 1: September 2015 to February 2016
Fitout of First Floor, Science 2
Stage 2a: September 2015 to February 2017
This stage encompasses the refurbishment of the west end of the existing Science 1 building.
Stage 2b: November 2017 to February 2018
This stage encompasses the refurbishment of the east end of the building.
Note: completion of all three stages (ie. including Stage 1) is critical.
