The Cycle Trail stretches 301 kilometres through the Mackenzie Basin and down the Waitaki Valley to Oamaru and the Pacific Ocean. Beginning at the base of New Zealand's highest peak it passes a number of glacial lakes while descending 780 metres to the mighty Pacific Ocean. The Cycle Trail promises to be one of New Zealand's most epic bicycle rides. Of the 301 kilometre stretch, a mere 15 kilometres is still to be completed, with this portion of the Cycle Trail currently being on the highway. Tourism Waitaki aims to have the whole Cycle Trail fully operational by 2017. Tourism Waitaki requires a contractor to provide maintenance services for the Cycle Trail. This document initiates a formal RFT process, to provide maintenance services to Tourism Waitaki as those services relate to the Cycle Trail. This RFT is seeking Tenders from suitably qualified maintenance service providers (one of whom will then be awarded with the maintenance Contract), to submit a Tender for the provision of maintenance services for the Cycle Trail.
