The Government has established a new company (Ferry Holdings Limited) to procure two new ferries to ensure a safe, reliable and commercially viable Cook Strait ferry service. The ferries are expected to begin operation in 2029 as the existing Interislander ferries reach the end of their operating lives.
In the interim and in the best interest of time, the NZ Treasury is developing the ships procurement plan including the necessary support from key ships advisors, while Ferry Holdings is becoming operational.
This Request for a quote seeks information that will help the New Zealand Treasury to obtain expert advice, from Ship Brokers with experience in contracting Ro-Pax ferries in Europe, Southeast Asia, China, South Korea and Japan shipyards, on ships procurement.
The Ship Brokers will be required to assist Ferry Holdings from the release of the RFP to shipbuilding contract awarding and to ship’s delivery.
