The purpose of this RFI process is to provide the opportunity for potential qualified suppliers who can help improve Transpower’s management of vegetation risks. This involves capturing data on vegetation near and under transmission lines that poses a threat to the safe operation of the transmission line, modelling the data and presenting it in a way that allows Transpower to manage vegetation. The objective is better risk management of the threat from vegetation to the operation of transmission lines over and above what Transpower current risk assessment processes.
This RFI relates to understanding what the market has to offer for survey for vegetation across the Transpower lines portfolio, integration of that data with existing Transpower datasets, and vegetation threat assessment reporting. It does not include actual vegetation control. That function is delivered separately. The information gathered by any improved system of assessing vegetation threats to our assets will inform vegetation control.
