Overview

Option 1 being this Request for Proposal, seeks to seismically repair and refurbish the existing stadium and annex a new 6 court stadium to the existing via a central hub and refurbish and retain all facilities currently on offer. With this option we would like to explore the opportunity to create a community hub gathering area with seating. This could be an option within the upstairs function space of the existing building with viewing windows to the courts.
The key needs in summary are:
New Stadium
• Access to 6 indoor multi-use courts with regulation run-off space and split between two buildings.
• High quality indoor wooden sprung floor in the new building.
• Fixed equipment to include scoreboards, officials and player benches, score benches, backboards, netball hoops, anchor plates for volleyball, gymnastics etc for competition events.
• Storage space, possibly two if enough room.
• Mechanical court divider curtains.
• Office space running along the courts with viewing windows to indoor courts.
• Two mixed use changing facilities.
• Two external mixed use accessible toilets next to changing rooms.
• Spectator retractable seating for 1,000.
• Diffused natural lighting and LED illuminations from 400 lux (training) to 1,000 lux (competition).
• Appropriate insulation and air ventilation in the new building and refurbished system in the existing building. Options for heating in the smaller rooms used for office purposes.
• Sustainable options were possible for materials, heating, ventilation, lighting, and water reticulation including installation of solar panels on the new building in the future.
Existing Stadium
• Seismic Repairs retaining all current usable spaces.
• New mechanical court divider curtain.
• Update lighting with LED illuminations from 400 lux (training) to 1,000 lux (competition).
• Refurbish/repair the retractable seating, including handrails and edge protection.
• Refurbish/repair toilets and changing rooms.
• Refurbish/repair air ventilation system.
