Overview
The TDHB is planning to go to market in late 2020 to run an open competitive tender for the construction of the proposed New East Wing Building at the Taranaki Base Hospital. The building is Stage 2 of the Taranaki Base Hospital Redevelopment known as Project Maunga.
The proposed building will be a highly serviced acute clinical space and has an estimated construction value of approximately $150M. It is expected to include an operations centre, emergency department, acute assessment unit, medical laboratory, radiology, neonatal intensive care, adult intensive care unit, coronary care unit, maternity care services, plant, a roof-top helipad and associated site-wide infrastructure. We are looking for a suitable main contractor and specialist sub-contractors who can demonstrate the required capability, capacity and experience to construct this high quality, complex hospital building and its associated infrastructure in the city of New Plymouth.
Critical to our needs is the main contractor's and specialist sub-contractor's ability to deliver quality construction services in New Plymouth (Taranaki, New Zealand) throughout the delivery of the build between 2021 and 2023.This will include the provision of specialist sub-contractor trades with experience in hospital work including civil and structure, seismic restraints, HVAC, plumbing and drainage, electrical, medical gases, ICT and security services. We anticipate this building will be 5 Star GreenStar certified building.
The TDHB is open to receiving joint-ventures or similar partnerships, and is encouraging of efforts to involve and contribute to the wider Taranaki region in the delivery of this project.
We will hold a ‘meet the buyer’ opportunity meeting 1pm at Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth, Monday 25 March 2019. This meeting will also be available via Zoom videoconferencing service if you cannot make it to New Plymouth. There will be no penalty for those not able to attend in person. We encourage interested main contractor providers AND specialist sub-contractor providers to register and attend this meeting opportunity.We anticipate publishing the Request for Proposals (RFP) for Main Contractors on t (GETS) in October 2020.
