Taupō District Council (TDC) provides and maintains sports grounds for residents and visitors for club sports, competitions, representative matches, events or recreation. Crown Park is one such sports grounds located between Crown Road, Taharepa Road, Kiddle Drive and Invergarry Road in Taupō. The sports ground includes soccer fields and clubrooms. Presently, one of the sports fields is lit by eight lighting poles (probably steam pipe) and a variety of metal halide luminaires.
It is the intention of TDC to upgrade the lighting to improve the level of lighting and extend the lighting to the adjacent field. This will involve removal of the existing fittings, the erection of four additional lighting columns, supply, installation, cabling and control of the new lights.
