Overview
Tauranga City Council is inviting tenders for the renewal of the Blake Park Skateboard Ramp.
The original vert skateboard ramp outlived its useful life, was becoming dangerous so was demolished. The new skateboard ramp is larger than the old but generally centred on the footprint of the old.
Plans and specifications of this new ramp were developed in consultation with the Mount Maunganui Skateboard Association, other high level skaters and ramp builders.
Skaters will also achieve relatively high speeds on relatively small diameter wheels meaning the surface must be very regular and fair to achieve a smooth ride for the rider’s enjoyment and safety in this already risky sport.
