Tauranga City Council invites registrations for this contract. Description/Scope of goods/services/works

• Develop signage and wayfinding guidelines that has a consistent look and feel across the city’s park, reserves and public spaces while also recognising the different cultural and environmental circumstances across the city and region.
• Develop an inclusive and culturally sensitive signage and wayfinding system that acknowledges the rich history of Tauranga and especially mana whenua connections to the land.
• Enhance navigation, safety, and accessibility by offering clear and contextually relevant signage.
• Celebrate Tauranga's cultural diversity, historical importance and environmental circumstances through interpretive signage that tells meaningful local stories of place.
• Establish a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing signage infrastructure that respects both the environment and the local culture.
• Describes and illustrates the range of techniques available for signage and wayfinding including digital formats.

The outcomes we want to achieve is a document that:
• Provides a summary of the range of existing signage and wayfinding systems currently evident within the TCC boundary and
immediate region with conclusions noted on issues (successes and failures) associated with these. (Principally in relation to parks, reserves, and public open spaces but also with reference to relevant signage associated with but not limited to transportation and emergency services) The successful consultant will be provided with a list of signboards to inspect.
• Sets out the broad cultural, historic, and environmental context and considerations that need to be accounted for in sign and wayfinding facilities for city and region.
• Sets out design principles and guidelines for sign and wayfinding facilities with importance placed on:
- interpretive signage and wayfinding concepts particularly to allow for better navigation and accessibility to City attractions and
places of interest
- ensuring as wide a spectrum of the community is accounted for
- guidelines on accessibility
- ensuring messaging is clear and concise
- minimising clutter caused by multiple disparate boards in the same general location
• Has recommendations on sustainability for signage materials and fabrication
• Has an implementation plan with priorities and a breakdown of potential costs
• Sets out maintenance and monitoring implications
