Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahunga – Library, Culture and Arts Centre is the South Taranaki District Council’s principal project within the Hāwera Town Centre Strategy. It will bring much needed foot traffic, visitors, and vibrancy to the town centre. The new facility will not simply revitalise - it will transform the town centre. The modern, multi-functional, community facility will provide residents and visitors with a wide range of services, information, cultural and educational resources right in the heart of Hāwera. These include a library, community meeting rooms, art gallery, i-SITE visitor information centre, café, and public toilets.
What we need
The South Taranaki District Council is seeking to invite experienced and well-resourced main contractors to tender for this CBD transformational project. To be invited you will need to demonstrate strong main contractor attributes with regard to on and off-site management, strong supplier and sub-contractor relationships, a proven site health and safety record, sustainability around waste management and an eagerness to engage where possible with local suppliers and sub-contractors.
The South Taranaki District Council has a strong preference to utilise South Taranaki District suppliers and subcontractors where economically viable, are price competitive and where they can commit to the main contractor’s construction program and expected high standard and quality of work. The STDC also has a commitment to employing local labour or job creation opportunities where possible, please demonstrate how this might be achieved.
