The South Canterbury District Health Board (SCDHB) is seeking proposals for the provision of private and public ophthalmology services in Timaru, South Canterbury. Proposals should include public secondary acute, arranged and elective inpatient and inpatient treatment services as well as private outpatient and elective inpatient and/or day patient surgical procedures.
It is important to the SCDHB that these services are provided in Timaru and the current service model is in line with the Government’s policy priority which requires DHBs to provide New Zealanders with ‘better, sooner, more convenient” health services for their residents.
The South Canterbury District Health Board district has a projected population of 59,043 residents for 2015/16 and has the highest percentage of residents over 65 years of age of any DHB in New Zealand.
