Auckland Zoo has finalised a Masterplan for a comprehensive redevelopment of its facility including the creation of a number of area themed precincts. Regional Facilities Auckland will fund a major programme of works to improve the quality of the Zoo facilities, the welfare of the animals and the experience to its visitors. Further information is available in the Masterplan (see Attachment 1). The first project in this programme is the South East Asia Precinct with an anticipated construction value of between $25m to $35m. This is the largest precinct and is currently in the concept design stage.
The Zoo is seeking to procure a main contractor to deliver a programme of works with a value of approximately $50M over the duration of approximately 5 years. The main contractor should have experience managing projects with a contract value more than NZD10m and have significant experience in managing multiple sub-contractors on projects encompassing buildings, civil and landscaping works. The attached Design Brief (see Attachment2) for the South East Asia Precinct indicates the type and scale of construction works.
