Te Kāhui Whakamana Rua Tekau mā Iwa - Pike River Recovery Agency (PRRA) was established on 31 January 2018 with the objective of conducting a manned recovery of the mine drift in order to:
• Gather evidence to better understand what happened in 2010 with an eye to preventing future mining tragedies;
• Give the Pike River families and victims overdue closure and peace of mind; and
• Recover remains where possible.
This Request for Proposals (RFP), the second step in a two-step procurement process, presents a unique opportunity to assist PRRA with achieving these key objectives by assisting to develop a detailed re-entry and recovery plan, and undertaking the approved manned re-entry and recovery works. PRRA is looking for credible and experienced providers who have the capability, experience and ability to source specialised mining equipment and personnel to undertake the agreed mine drift re-entry and recovery works.
