Leith Flood Protection Scheme - Union Street to Leith Street Footbridge; River Widening

The Otago Regional Council is proposing to carry out flood protection works and river widening along the “ITS Bend” reach of the Water of Leith (“the River”).

This Request for Tender is in 3 separable portions and calls for a contract for the supply of all materials, plant, labour and supervision required to, but is not limited to:

(1) Main Contract Works being:
• Bed excavation between 1.0 m and 1.8 m deep,
• Construction of 8 adjacent to beneath the Right Bank Wall,
• Construction of 8 new weirs across the river bed,
• Lining of the river bed with constructed rip rap,
• Underpinning of a 20 m long section of the existing Right Bank wall,
• Excavation of the existing concrete wall beneath the Information Technology Services (ITS) Building over a 16 metre length, and reconstruction of terraces down to the river bed,
• Strengthening of the 3 existing columns of the Information Technology Services Building,
• Construction of terrace steps under the ITS Building including fixing of reinforcing stiffening around the base of 3 existing building columns,
• Construction of new reinforced concrete retaining wall of 3.5 m long panels on the Left Bank over a 35 m length,
• Construction of steps 11m long by 1.5m wide on the Left bank,
• Construction of anchored erosion resistant membrane to the upper Left embankment over a 34 m length,
• Construction of a new balustrade 30 m long on the Left bank,
• Alteration of Left Bank services for electricity supply, telecommunications cables, a sewer, and a stormwater drain,
• Landscaping of upper left embankment over a 35 m length; and,

(2) Right bank wall height extension;
• Constructing a cast in situ concrete vertical height extension 155m long to the existing right bank wall 0.5 m to 0.9 m high, together with foundation footing pads

(3) Right Bank Scour Repair in the region from chainage 381.86m to 402.00m.
