This Notice of Intent (NOI) is to provide some project information ahead of the Request for Tender (RFT) release which is planned to be advertised in early/mid-May 2025. The contract commencement date is anticipated to be between August to October 2025 (to be confirmed in RFT) and the construction period is expected to be around 50 Working Days.
This NOI is provided as an early indication only of the project scope so suppliers can consider tendering in advance of works coming to market, and will not form part of any future tender or contract documents.
SH25 Moana Anu Anu Bridge spanning over the Wentworth River (BSN 2122) is located immediately to the west of Whangamata (bypassing the urban area) at RP 206/6.25.
The Contract Works involve:
• The removal of existing timber deck and replacement with a new engineered plywood panel deck (supplied by others). The new deck construction compromises 195mm thick plywood panels clamped to the underside of the top flange of the existing beams with steel clamp plates bolted to the underside of the panels.
• Steelwork strengthening involving installation of transverse diaphragms and tension bracing.
• Existing steelwork coating system will be prepared and fully re-coated with a new paint system.
• The current safety barrier system will be upgraded to incorporate a new TL4 semi rigid guardrail.
• Resurfacing reinstatement.
• Other miscellaneous structural maintenance may be included while temporary access is in place.
Project background information:
• The project cost is estimated to be roughly in the order of $1.4M.
• Contractors must be pre-qualified to “Bridge Construction – Level C (3C)”.
• The tender evaluation method is likely to be Lowest Price Conforming (LPC) with pass/fail evaluation of the Relevant Experience, Relevant Skills and Methodology attributes.
• Plywood deck panels materials will be supplied by NZTA due to long lead times.
• A full bridge closure will be required during the construction works, with the closure duration to be minimised to reduce network disruption. The duration and timing of the full bridge closure will be outlined in the RFT document.
• The latest Tender Drawing set is provided for information only purposes.
This is NOT the commencement of a tender process or a registration of interest to tender. Requesting the project information in no way holds the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi to include the requestor in any tender process.
