NZTA Waka Kotahi invite you to participate in our construction tender for the Waihoehoe Road Enabling Works.
The future Waihoehoe Road Upgrade project is adjacent to the Drury Railway Station. This station is to be constructed by KiwiRail and is planned to be operational in late 2025. The upgraded Waihoehoe Road includes a new bridge over the rail line and will provide improved access to Drury Station. Before the main Waihoehoe Road bridge construction begins from late 2025 onward, enabling works are required within the KiwiRail corridor to facilitate construction of the future bridge foundations and abutments.
The Waihoehoe Road Enabling Works comprise:
• Creating construction access to the rail corridor from adjacent properties.
• Pre-fabricate and install long-term hoarding walls on the western and eastern sides of the rail tracks, to:
o Physically separate train tracks from the future Waihoehoe Road bridge works.
o Minimise the number of bridge construction activities that require Blocks of Line.
• Demolition of all buildings located on the 18 Waihoehoe Road property, after this property has been purchased by the Principal.
• Protection or relocation of utilities within the rail corridor that conflict with the temporary hoardings or permanent works.
Due to the scope of works being within the KiwiRail rail corridor, we are seeking a contractor with both NZTA 4B (Construction) and KiwiRail (Civil and/or Structures) Pre-Qualification. This will be a Measure & Value contract and evaluated using the Price Quality Method with 40%/60% weightings for Non-Price/Price evaluation.
The contractor is to pre-fabricate hoardings prior to installation. Enabling Works on-site are expected to take place mainly during the Christmas 2024 Block of Line (BOL) period, and the Easter 2025 Block of Line period. Some works may be undertaken during short-term BOLs between these two periods.
The Waihoehoe Road Upgrade project is being delivered by NZTA Waka Kotahi on behalf of Auckland Transport as the asset owner.
