Overview

This Request for Proposal invites submissions for preconstruction services for the Scott Base Redevelopment (SBR) project under an Early Contractor Engagement arrangement.

The objective is to identify a Preferred Contractor to initially provide preconstruction services. Subject to the delivery of these services, the resolution of contractual and commercial agreements and Antarctica NZ obtaining approvals, the Preferred Contractor may be engaged for the physical construction works.

The redevelopment of Scott Base is Antarctica New Zealand’s largest and most complex project ever undertaken. The aim of the project is to ensure Aotearoa New Zealand has safe, fit-for-purpose, and sustainable infrastructure that safeguards its continuous presence in Antarctica, enables its world-leading scientific research programme, and strengthens engagement with the Antarctic Treaty System.

The SBR project comprises the delivery of new and refurbished infrastructure, which includes the modification of existing infrastructure to support the construction phase; work to relocate nationally and internationally significant long-term science experiments that is now complete; and the upgrade of the Ross Island wind energy system which is underway.

A supplier briefing will be held on 19 March 2025 in Christchurch. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory. Registrations are required by 5:00 p.m. on 17 March 2025.
