Installation of Tsunami Sirens – Northland
Registration of Interest in Tendering

Prospective tenderers are invited to submit their interest in tendering for the upgrade and replacement of the Northland Tsunami Siren network. This network extends from Mangawhai to Te Hapua on the east coast and on the west coast from Waipapakauri Ramp to Ruawai. Through this upgrade the siren network will meet national and international standards including multi tone siren with voice messaging and an increased range of audibility. The sirens are supplied by HSS Engineering who have recommended 96 sirens of two different decibel ratings. They are mounted on 8 metre poles, connected to mains power and activated via cellular, data and satellite options with solar back up batteries. Suitably qualified companies will be invited to tender for the above works.

Three contracts will be offered:

Contract No TSRP-01 for the construction of reinforced concrete foundations and incidental siteworks and making good on completion at 96 sites located throughout the Northland Region.

Contract No TSRP-02 for the construction of steel poles 8 metres high, complete with incidental plates and brackets, corrosion protection and painting, cable draw wires and installation at the various sites, and

Contract No TSRP-03 for the installation and commission of the tsunami sirens and control equipment, together with mains power connection.

Submissions from prospective tenderers should include a statement of the nature of the organization and of relevant experience, track record, referees, available equipment, staff and plant, and the submitter’s policy on covid illnesses within their workforce and how the effects will be minimized.
Submitters must clearly state which of the contracts they are submitting for and may submit for any or all proposed works.
Northland Regional Council reserves the right to decline any person or organization the right to register as a tenderer without reason being given.
