Overview

Auckland District Health Board (DHB), Waitemata DHB, and Counties Manukau DHB ("the Auckland Metro DHBs") wish to purchase Pregnancy and Parenting Information and Education Curriculum (the Service).

The Pregnancy and Parenting Information Component is one of two service delivery areas identified in the Ministry of Health (“MOH”) national service specification for DHB funded Pregnancy and Parenting Information and Education. The other is the Education Service aimed at first time parents and for groups of parents with high needs such as teenagers, Māori, Pacific Peoples, Asian, refugees and prospective parents for whom English is a second language. Whilst the delivery of the Education Service is not covered in this Request for Proposal (“RFP”), the development of an Education curriculum to support the delivery of the Education Service is included.

Information Component
The successful provider(s) will be required to develop:
a) Mobile application(s) (apps) that provide information about key pregnancy and parenting topics, which will be provided free to pregnant women and expectant fathers / partners, parents of new babies, including adoptive parents, and, where appropriate, their families / whānau;
b) The mobile apps will link to resources and pregnancy and parenting related services within the Auckland Region, and to the National Pregnancy and Parenting Information and Resources, including the comprehensive Online Child Health and Development tool being developed by MOH.

Education Curriculum
For this component of the Service, the successful provider(s) will be required to develop a resource for Child Birth Educators and Facilitators (“CBEs”) to deliver the Education Service, which is primarily focused on additional support/education for first-time expectant parents and populations with high needs such as young/teenage parents, Māori, Pacific Peoples, Asian, and parents with limited comprehension of the English language. The Education Curriculum will also be made available to other interested people, including those from the health, social and education sectors working with pregnant women, their partners and families/whānau.
