Overview

Supporting Offenders into Employment

The Ministry of Social Development and the Department of Corrections seeks to engage providers to deliver the Supporting Offenders into Employment service trial in the Canterbury Region. Ideally service provision would start from November 2016. The trial period is three years (subject to performance). The Request for Proposals closes on 11 August. A supplier briefing will be held in Christchurch on 18 July.

We’d like a service intervention different and outside of what is currently purchased by our agencies. The aim of the Supporting Offenders into Employment service is to trial an innovative, multi-disciplinary wraparound support service to individuals due for release, and on release from prison to prepare them for and help them achieve sustainable employment.

We’re inviting you to submit an innovative service proposal that can be delivered within the $2M per annum funding available. This equates to average funding of $10,000 per participant, with a maximum $11,000 per participant funding rate. This funding is to deliver the multi-service intervention to participants for a maximum period of 10 weeks while in prison and 12 months after release. The service delivered is to prepare people for work, get them into work and keep them there.
