Sole Parent Coaching (Te Oranga) and Sole Parent Placement (Te Mana Whakahaere) Services - Waikato Region

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is seeking providers with proven experience in providing successful employment services and the ability to provide a service that addresses client’s individual needs and circumstances in order to coach and support clients to move into work or full time study as quickly as possible; and provide on-going support to help them to achieve sustainable employment.

Providers may elect to submit proposals for either Te Oranga or Te Mana Whakahaere as separate services or to submit a combined proposal to deliver both services.

The Work and Income Waikato region has for a number of years engaged contracted service providers to support beneficiaries to help prepare for and achieve employment.
Historically these services have been provided to all job seeking clients of Work and Income without specific targeting of support toward those clients who have sole parent responsibilities.

Sole Parents typically face barriers to employment such as transport, childcare, and for those who have not participated in employment for some time, a lack of confidence to find and engage in work and a perceived fear of losing collateral benefits upon leaving income support.

The Waikato region now seeks to engage providers to deliver employment-related coaching and mentoring specifically for sole parent clients to support them to move towards and into suitable employment opportunities The Ministry seeks to engage providers to undertake the delivery of Te Oranga and Te Mana Whakahaere from 1 September 2015.
