Overview

This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation to suitably qualified Respondents to submit a Proposal for the Climate and Health risk to New Zealanders: A Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment.

It is a first of its kind project in New Zealand and will directly support the implementation of the Health National Adaptation Plan.

The Ministry of Health is commissioning a vulnerability and adaptation assessment (V&A) to understand the climate-related health risk to the New Zealand population. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that V&A assessments are a key component of planning climate change adaptation measures for health systems.
The project will undertake a quantitative analysis of the climate-related health risks specific to the New Zealand risk profile, including demographic, geographic, socioeconomic, sociocultural, environmental and population health data.
Conducting a V&A assessment is necessary to develop and prioritize actions that maximize co-benefits including increased community resilience, reduced emissions and improved health and equity. A V&A assessment is a key requirement within the Health National Adaptation Plan.
