Overview

We are seeking a design-build solution for new public toilets for Fairlie, Lake Pukaki and Lake Ruataniwha in
the Mackenzie District. The existing toilets at Fairlie are at their end of life, the existing toilets at Lake Pukaki
are requiring refurbishment and expansion and there is a need for new two new toilets to be introduced at
Lake Ruataniwha.
The project seeks to procure toilets that are high quality, of proven durability, offer architectural qualities
that suit the unique Mackenzie environment and contribute to building a sense of place, and meet all
relevant standards and building codes.
This is a target-price procurement. We are seeking to achieve the best combination of design, quality,
capacity and whole of life value for the price of $1,824,000 excluding GST. Price is not a weighted attribute.
The project will result in:
• New public toilets in Fairlie to replace the current toilets. The new toilets will have a target capacity
of 8 units
• New public toilets at Lake Pukaki that may incorporate the refurbishment of the existing toilets or
provision of new toilets of similar design and include elements of shelter for cyclists on the Alps to
Ocean trail. The site will have a target capacity of 12 units.
• New public toilets at two locations surrounding Lake Ruataniwha with a target capacity of at least 1
accessible unit per site.
Procurement will take place in the remaining part of 2021 with construction scheduled for early to mid 2022.
