Overview

The New Zealand Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), is partnering with the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) to support the establishment of the Bina Harbour Tuna Processing Plant (BHTPP). As part of this, the MFAT and the Solomon Islands Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR) are seeking a Bina Region Arrangements for Governance (BRAG) Coordinator to lead and coordinate the work to establish area governance arrangements to ensure equitable benefits to communities and individuals who will host the project on their customary lands, seas, and waters.

This role will sit in the BRAG unit of the Bina Harbour Project Office (BHPO) and be contracted directly to MFAT. This role will manage staff and consultants of the BRAG Unit.

This role is ideal for a strong Project Coordinator with experience in land governance and community engagement. If you have a deep understanding of local arrangements, cultural awareness, and a proactive approach to project delivery, we encourage you to apply. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a significant development initiative that will have a lasting impact on the livelihoods of Solomon Islanders. The initial assignment will be for a maximum of 480 days over 24 months. The role is based full-time in Honiara with travel to Malaita Province. The contract will commence in April 2025.
