Technical Advisor– Operations - Fiji

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) is looking for a Technical Advisor to provide specialist technical advice and practical assistance to support the Government of Fiji to discharge core DRR functions, (including planning, training, guidelines, exercises) and DRM functions (including projects, operations, coordination, communications, logistics, assessments, information management) that would support improved national and community-level resilience across Fiji.

This role will assist the Government of Fiji and stakeholders to enhance Fiji government’s ability to discharge core functions in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Disaster Risk Management (DRM). The role will enable Fiji to better coordinate and manage its DRM/DRR partners through increasingly locally led interactions at the national and community levels; reduce Fiji’s vulnerability to the negative impacts of disasters and supporting a strengthened DRM/DRR partnership between New Zealand and Fiji.

This role will appeal if you are interested in being part of a programme that directly contributes to the Disaster Risk Reduction in the Pacific. The initial assignment will be for up to 12 months full time, with an option to extend to a further 12 months. Anticipated start in December 2022, this role is based in Fiji.
