In December 2012, the New Zealand government publically announced that it would host APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) in 2021.
APEC is a regional economic forum established in 1989, and includes 21 member economies. Every year one of the Member Economies volunteers to host APEC meetings.
The APEC host economy serves as the APEC Chair for the duration of the APEC hosting year (December 2020 – December 2021). The APEC host economy is responsible for chairing the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), selected Ministerial meetings, up to five Senior Officials Meetings (SOM), amongst a number of other meetings and events throughout the year.
It is expected that approximately 18,000 - 22,000 people will visit New Zealand for APEC events over the course of the hosting year. APEC will be hosted throughout New Zealand at yet to be determined locations. Leaders’ Week, the final event of the APEC calendar, will be held in November in Auckland.
All APEC events, and in particular the Leaders’ Week, requires significant co-ordination around resourcing, online registration and accreditation, logistics, transport, accommodation, venues and security.
Your opportunity
On the 31st of July 2017, the Ministry will issue a Registration of Interest (ROI) where we will seek responses from suitably qualified and experienced suppliers / consortia to provide the following;
• An online registration and accreditation solution which will support the registration and accreditation of more than 50,000 local and international delegates, guests and workforce throughout the APEC hosting year.
• Access control technology and infrastructure to provide secure point of entry access control at APEC venues across New Zealand.
• An APEC2021 New Zealand website communicating key information on the event to local and international audiences.
• Event management software to support the APEC Operations Team in running the series of APEC meetings across the host year in 2021.

Shortlisted respondents notified Mid October 2017
