Meridian Energy is an integrated renewable energy company; the largest electricity generator in New Zealand, and an electricity retailer throughout New Zealand.
Telecommunications, Voice, Network Management and Associated Services are very important for Meridian, essential to the ongoing success and growth of its business, as well as critical to the ongoing management of its electricity generation. Meridian requires robust telecommunications services to undertake its role as a Lifeline Utility as defined under the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002. These services are also critical in terms of Meridian's ability to operate as a major electricity generator and wholesale trader in New Zealand's regulated environment. Key components of Meridian's telecommunications network requires 24/7 x 365 support.
Meridian is seeking a level of interest from suppliers for the provision of Telecommunications, Voice, Network Management and Associated Services as a result of a strategic review of its existing ICT supply arrangements. The telecommunications market in New Zealand has significantly evolved over the last few years and Meridian feels that it is an appropriate time to explore how the changing telecommunications market can be leveraged to obtain better service outcomes and cost savings.
