Overview

Mayfield School is a contributing primary school (year 1-6) with a student roll of 94 as of July 2024. The school is located in the outskirt of Blenheim.
The school requires provision of a Whanau Engagement Space for their community which will also serve as a learning support space. The existing school hall (Block C) was identified as the most suitable area to welcome this space by making light alterations.
The Contract Works required are:
• Hall modernization including:
o new unisex and accessible toilets to replace existing single sex toilets,
o removal of the hall stage and adjacent storerooms/cupboards,
o new kitchenette and storage behind lockable doors at the end of the hall (replacing stage),
o new Autex lining to the main hall space,
o existing hall kitchen to be converted to storeroom with new double doors into hall (existing single door from hallway to be removed)
o existing heat pumps remain,
o internal windows from existing storeroom into hall store cupboard to be removed,
o existing storeroom converted to new meeting space/whanau & community hub
o removal of existing landing from the hall and add new raised floor including;
. new sliding doors to two sides, and windows to one side
. new deck around two sides (approximately 2m width)
o retain existing internal access from the hall to the new meeting space – change existing door to a glazed slider.
o one wall to have Autex lining
o asbestos works will be the highest risk on this project, it will be imperative that all H&S requirements are met for its safe removal.
o all applicable project specific details will be available in the consented design plans.
• Asbestos has been identified in the Hall and contractor should provide the necessary AMP that will be reviewed by MoE before start.
