Overview

iThe outcome sought by this procurement is the securing of the services of a suitably qualified and experienced main contractor to undertake the proposed Block 1&2: Bathroom Refurbishment Works at Tikipunga Primary School. The existing bathroom facilities throughout Block 1 and at the end of Block 2 are in very poor condition, do not have hot water, have asbestos wall cladding panels that are starting to fail, and do not provide any accessible bathroom facilities.

The proposed works includes a site wide upgrade and extension of the existing Type 2 Fire Alarm System to a Type 4 Fire Alarm System to NZS415 2021 and MOE requirements to the entire school. The works also includes the internal and external refurbishment of 4x existing student bathrooms (1x in Block 2, and 3x in block 1), and the refurbishment of the existing staff bathrooms (also in Block 1). The works will require the safe and compliant removal of existing asbestos containing materials (ACM). Due to the spread-out nature of the proposed works (6x different areas over two blocks), the asbestos removal component, and the impact the project will have on the school toilet facilities for staff and students, the construction works will need to be phased.
