Overview

Dunedin North Intermediate is a 320 pupil, year seven and eight intermediate, The Pool is intensively used by several North Dunedin schools and a swim school.

The Pool was constructed in the 1950’s and some pump, and electrical system replacements are circa 2016.

The pool structure has fallen into disrepair and requires replacement as soon as possible to prevent collapse of the structure. The roof, wall cladding and interior lining contain asbestos. The interior lining is sagging due to the failure of the roof structure.

The Ministry of Education and Dunedin City Council are contributing to this project and their approval and final financial contribution will be required post tender.


i. Dunedin North Intermediate are looking to replace the pool structure to comply with the following New Zealand Building Codes and Standards.
New Zealand Building Code 2004.
Changing Room fittings are to be replaced to meet the Building Code.
Trafficable skylights in accordance with Ministry standards.


c. To satisfactorily deliver the Contract Works, the Contractor must:
i. have a comprehensive, workable programme for completing the Contract Works
ii. have a robust method, approach, systems and processes to effectively manage cost, time and quality risks
iii. operate a documented health and safety policy and system that aligns with AS/NZS 4801:2001 and/or the requirements set out at Property projects: contractor health and safety.
iv. have, as standard practice, the implementation of a Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) for the Contract Works that aligns with the SSSP at: Property projects: contractor health and safety.
d. Safety hazards and associated critical risks that have been identified as specific to the Contract Works and which must be included in a SSSP for the Contract Works are:
• Working in an active school.
• Working at heights
• Asbestos removal and demolition.
