Overview

The Hawke’s Bay/Gisborne region of the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) is inviting proposals from suppliers for the provision of Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities (SELO) for children, families, whānau and communities by providing professional development programmes to early childhood services with specific needs.The purpose of this project is to support the achievement of the Governments ‘Better Public Services’ target to have 98% participation in quality ECE services.

SELO programme 1 requires providers of in-depth professional development to strengthen early learning opportunities within services identified by the Ministry in target locations or communities. The Ministry is looking for people or organisations that have the ability to work with early childhood services to strengthen their services.

SELO programme 2 requires providers of community specific professional learning and development to strengthen early learning opportunities for children in targeted locations identified by the Ministry. The Ministry is looking for people or organisations to work with early childhood services to strengthen their ability to be more responsive to the identity, language and culture of the children and families in their communities.

Providers will:
have a mix of skills and knowledge in early childhood education, as well as a good understanding of their community and its needs;
develop and implement tailored professional development programmes for services on behalf of the Ministry; and
be required to provide the Ministry with relevant professional services and advice in a timely manner on request.
