Overview

This project involves three stages of wastewater centralisation construction in Halcombe, Rongotea, and Kauwhata to Awahuri.
1. Halcombe: A 160mm Ø PE wastewater rising main will be installed from Mt Stewart (SH3) toward Halcombe, covering 6-8km along Mt Stewart-Halcombe Road, subject to budget constraints. The pipeline will include scour and air valves, a confluence chamber at SH3, and will be constructed primarily using horizontal directional drilling, with alternative methodologies considered.
2. Rongotea: A 160mm Ø PE wastewater rising main, spanning 2.4km through rural land and ending at Rongotea Road, will be installed with a free-issued fibreoptic duct. Additionally, 260m of 125mm Ø PE wastewater main is provisionally planned for Witham St. The project follows the same construction methodology as Halcombe, with a preference for concurrent execution, though sequential construction is an option.
3. Kauwhata to Awahuri: A 63mm Ø PE wastewater rising main, approximately 3.6km long, will be installed from Kauwhata settlement along SH3 to Awahuri, including a highway bridge crossing. This stage will commence in July 2025 or after prior stages are completed.
All stages will also feature scour and air valves. Additional stages of work may be awarded to the successful tenderer.
