In February 2015 the Ministry of Defence sought responses to a Request for Information (RFI) for Phase 2 of the Strategic Bearer Network Project. This RFI sought information and costs on technologies that might provide Defence with a major communications capability refresh to meet contemporary requirements for the next 15 years.
Defence now publishes the names and contact details of those companies that responded to the RFI. This was agreed to by the various respondents and has been done to facilitate sub-contractor or partnership opportunities. This action aligns with the recommendations of the “Optimising New Zealand Industry Involvement in the New Zealand Defence Sector” report which was made public by the Ministry of Defence on 22 October 2014
